Barbara Behan has over twenty years’ experience writing, editing and consulting in communication services for diverse clients. These include startups, independent contractors and mid-size companies in the private sector–both in the U.S. and abroad. She has produced content for one Fortune 500 tech company and smaller companies in a range of industries.

Barbara has also written for many nonprofits and government clients and employers. She has published original historical research and writing with the University of Oxford Press, and magazine articles in a variety of publications.

In 2007 Barbara ventured into online writing and commerce, learning best practices from the trenches of blogging, social media, and SEO. There is a unique way of communicating online. As a society and world, we are all navigating it. Barbara brings deep experience to helping clients take a big-picture view of their communications and find their unique message for online audiences.

As the founder of Gist Communications, Barbara is well-connected in the local entrepreneurial community in her hometown of Missoula, Montana. Gist Communications frequently brings in trusted partners (designers, coders, etc.) to collaborate on projects.

Barbara has two social science degrees from the University of Arizona and Arizona State University.
